Time for a chat? Theres lots to talk about! Firstly, we had 1000 bumper stickers printed and they have nearly all been given out. I was so happy yesterday to be travelling behind a fairly NEW Subaru with a, Im a CCPO Member R U ? sticker on the bumper. Thank you to that lady who was not worried about defacing her new vehicle. If you havent put your bumper sticker on your vehicle yet, please do. We havent seen too many around and it really does create an awareness. I only have 14 of those stickers left at my office.
Once I have completed the task of loading all our members onto our data base I will be able to inform you of your membership numbers which are systematically applied with each entry, so that we are able to identify our members when they phone in with an emergency. A reminder, all non members will be charged an amount of R1 200 (one years subscription), should we respond to a complaint.
Some exciting news we are looking at running a test with cameras placed on strategic high points in the area and these cameras are able to cover an unbelievably large area. The cameras are extremely hi-tech and can lock-on to moving objects (making tailing of vehicles/suspects so much easier). Another fantastic feature is face recognition. At the moment the CCPO photographs every individual suspect/convicted criminal we come across. These photos can be loaded onto the camera software and when the camera is patrolling, it recognises these faces and alerts the camera monitor to the match! Obviously setting up a system like this is costly to begin with, and wed love to hear from anyone interested in helping us to finance this project.
Thank you
A VERY big thank you to TRADE CENTRE for the sponsorship of a brand new office desk, chair and book shelf! Thank you so much for making our office more comfortable and functional!
As you know we put out a request for bicycles, to make the area covered by the guards much greater, and the bikes are slowly coming in. Some of you have waited a while for them to be collected. We really do appreciate them and will be around to pick them up as soon as possible there just arent enough hours in the day! So to the following members who donated bicycles, KFC and Richard Allkins, Dale Campbell, Paul ONeil, Peter Stephenson, Ivan Millan, Colin Coetzee and Ben Laing, Rita Pienaar and their families thank you very much. The CCPO would like to acknowledge and thank Lance Jennings of Weefix for the donation of R1000.00 toward bicycle repairs paid to the Cycle Shop at Iphala Centre. This type of support is greatly appreciated and needed to keep us going from strength to strength.
We also have The Sun newspaper to thank for a cash donation of R4800.00. We are so grateful to have them behind us supporting everything we do. So, to Michelle and Staff, a very big Thank you for all you do and have done in support of the CCPO.
Recently Les Spence our General Manager required medical attention after being flat on his back with a pinched nerve, and here we would like to thank Dr Andrew Jones who attended to Les and has waived the bill in an act of community service. So to you Dr Jones Thank You very much for getting Les back on the road.
This is almost like a wedding speech all we are missing is the champagne. I personally would like to raise my glass to the entire committee, G Lithgow, Q Rutherford, M Grobler, G Snodey, R Allkins ,J Lewis and Cindy Rutherford for their unfailing commitment to the CCPO. You would not believe the time and work that it takes to keep this running smoothly. Lastly on the list to be thanked but by no means least, to the reps who have strived to grow our member numbers, Yvonne, Paul, Gail, Gaye and daughter Leeanne who have the thankless task of recruiting the Amanzimtoti community, thank you, we appreciate all you have done, now finish your drink and get recruiting again.
Please take a look at our Business on Board list and be sure to support the business that supports you, whether youre deciding on a restaurant, hardware or estate agent!
Donation request
With rainy season upon us, raincoats for our guards are desperately needed. Anyone in a position to sponsor these or know of a business who might be interested, then please give me a call (031 9140132), or Les and we can organise from there.
Our office in Southgate is merely an open space where the admin function is performed and our weekly committee meetings are held. We desperately require it to be enclosed into more of an office, mainly because the office equipment is forever full of dust! If anyone can help with the shopfitting material, it would be greatly appreciated.
Finances
To those members who did not sign up as Debit order payments and have been doing efts, I shall be contacting you shortly as I have not been able to match up a lot of the payments, and sadly it appears that a large number of these members have not paid at all since signing up from as far back as June. Please, we REALLY need your support. To those of you who pay monthly, without fail, a very big thank you. Pls make sure you put your full name, or street address as a reference.
With December around the corner, it is imperative that we increase the number of guards as soon as possible. Unfortunately we are still far off the mark! If you have been meaning to sign that form, pls print it off our web-site, www.ccpo.co.za, and fax it through to 031 914 0131, urgently. It really does make a difference!

Just to let you know that today I came home to a vagrant sleeping on the park bench that someone has put outside no 14 Hudd where the taxis stop. He was obviously a hobo and had a pink dummy in his mouth. Anyway, before I could phone for CCPO to come and see, the patrol guy was there on his bicycle and moved this hobo on.Firstly - keep an eye out in case this hobo continues to hang around.
Secondly - please lets keep the CCPO and the bicycle patrol working, these guys are making a difference and the safety of our families and neighbours is vitally important!
Regards

To those who did not bother to change their debit order to the new patrol and those who just did not bother at all - WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU???? Put your money where your mouth is and pay up for the safety of your children and your neighbourhood - WAKE UP AND DO SOMETHING BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE FOR YOU OR SOMEONE YOU LOVE!!!!

I have been meaning to send you a mail so here it goes, June this year I went over to Japan for 3 weeks got back on a Saturday afternoon. Not having a good quality burger I went down to Wimpy, I was shocked to see Toti CBD quiet, not seeing the usual group of people hanging around aimlessly.
Great job done. Just some history I live in a complex we have 2 guards patrolling our grounds so it is quite safe, so people in our complex ask why joint CCPO. My reply is once you leave your gate you want to drive on safe roads. So for all complex's join and make Toti a safer place.

A very big thank you to the guys on their bicycles.
They have come down Shepstone Road during the day this past week and during the weekend. I am glad to see them in our street, even though there are only about three houses that have signed up. Come on everyone, imagine if everyone signs up, we will see more of their friendly faces and be more at ease! They are only trying to make our lives more relaxing and safe!!
Keep up the good work,
Jenny Dall

Dear Sir,
Thank you for your excellent information and feedback on crime in the Toti area it is this type of awareness that helps keep people on their toes. I have attached for your members interest pictures of a break in at my daughters house in Doonside and warn people do not rely entirely on your alarm service provider!!!!!
In this instance ADT received an alarm activation, advised the owner and said they were going to the scene and would investigate. The owners heard nothing more from ADT and assumed all was in order and that it was a false alarm. This was at 09:30 am and when they got home at 17:30 pm they discovered that the house had been ransacked the wall safe smashed from the wall and the contents taken.
(edited due to space)
Be sure you are using the best and maybe respond yourself and stand off until the guard arrives.
My daughter has moved to another security company and would be interested to hear if any other Toti residents have had similar experiences with ADT.
I would like to thank Secure Logic, Chubb, ADT, the car guard at Athlone Park Tearoom, the young boy on the yellow bicycle, the tearoom owner and Wayne for there prompt response on Sunday 30 Sept round 16h45.
My son's bicycle was stolen from outside the tearoom. With the help of the car guard the Secure Logic guards were successful in finding the culprit, who is a relative of the family that live in Hudd Road! This I find very disturbing as you cannot even trust your neighbours!
Wonderful team work gents - thank you all, my payment to CCPO of R100, was definitely worth it this month!
Just to inform you that yesterday, (4/10/2007) at approx 5pm I arrived home from work and noticed two African men sitting just outside the entrance gate of my complex, (Glen Willows, bottom entrance) in Warner Beach. They were sitting in a red Toyota Corolla and were looking into the complex through the gate, obviously scoping out the territory. I called the emergency number and a unit was despatched. When the unit arrived, the men were questioned and the one man explained that he was waiting for his wife who works as a domestic at one of the units. He couldnt say which unit and he said she was due out at 5pm. By this time, it was 5:20pm and so they were told to move off as they were arousing the suspicion of the residents. I know for a fact that all our domestics at the bottom units all leave at the latest 3pm, and the top unit domestics all leave through the top gate, not ours at the bottom. I assume that the registration number of their vehicle was noted by the despatch unit and it will be followed up.
The unit responded promptly and dealt with the situation professionally. Thank you very much to the CCPO & Secure Logic. Keep up the good work.
Regards
