De-Merit system

Dear Members

Please take note that the De-Merit system was implemented from twelve o'clock last night.

Points are put on a scale under your ID No. on the system for any traffic violations, and thus you can unknowingly lose your license.

This morning, numerous people from Unisa as well as from Onderstepoort animal research station (Cruvet) were pulled over and received serious fines.

There is no longer a 10km/h grace for exceeding the speed limit. They fine as from km one.

Starting today, they are going full-out.

Please share this information with all drivers you know!!

MYN617GP

Please be on the look out for a Maroon 1987 Opel Monza MYN617GP; white male and female occupants. Organised Crime Unit has asked for assistance as this couple pose as SAPS members. They are wanted for house robbery in Pretoria where they allegedly tied up an eleven year old child while they ransacked the house. They are believed to be headed towards the South Coast.

If you see this vehicle please contact control on the emergency number (083 393 5066) and ask them to inform Wayne immediately.

GREAT NEWS!!!!

Just to let you know, we got the housebreakers who broke into Cypress, Kings & Peace Rds this morning. 2 black men in a white Yaris were spotted by a committee member trying their luck at the gate of a home in Dick King Rd. They were tracked down through Athlone Park where CCPO's Wayne & Gerald cut them off on the corner of Kingsway & Wavecrest roads. They were in possession of the stolen goods and were handed over to SAPS.

I listened with baited breath to the excellent team work over the radio network between committee members, CCPO staff & our Athlone Park guard and the fantastic SAPS support, all of which led to the arrest. I am so proud of everyone involved!

Thanks to the community for all their support which enables us to get the job done.

ALERT

Please alert all members of your households as well as any domestic or garden workers you may have in your employ to the dangers of allowing strangers onto your premises.

At a housebreaking in Athlone Park today the domestic worker opened the gate to a man who said he was there to read the meter. She opened the gate, he then asked for a pen and he followed her into the house. She was threatened and assaulted. Various items such as computers, etc. were stolen.

DO NOT OPEN YOUR GATES OR DOORS TO ANYONE!!!!!!! Check the ID documents of any strange callers. This is your RIGHT and you can always phone and verify details if you are unsure.

CCPO ALERT

Please be on the look out for a white Toyota Yaris hatch back with 4 armed black male occupants which has been operating in the Athlone Park as well as the St.Winifreds area during the day. The number plates on this vehicle are constantly being changed.

Please call the emergency number if you spot anything suspicious.

If you haven't done so already programme the CCPO emergency number into your phone 0833935066.

COMMUNITY UPLIFTMENT-APPEAL

TWINI SPORTS GROUNDS

As I am sure you are all aware the old Twini sports grounds were in a shocking state and as a result vagrants and really unsavoury characters tried to take over the area. This has changed.

The Council has recently made a commitment to help fix and fence the area. So, a couple of the CCPO committee members and other concerned community members have started getting things back in running order. They need your support!

They already have Under 6, Under 8, Under 12 and senior football teams meeting every Tuesday and Thursday evening between 5 and 6 pm. JOIN THEM!!!! Wouldn?t it be great if all the facilities were once again fully utilised? All sports such as cricket, soccer and hockey can be facilitated there.

Please pitch up and have a look for yourselves. They are doing a great job with what is currently available. With your help it can only get much BIGGER & BETTER.

The CCPO feels that part of our commitment should be focused on uplifting the community and environment as well as crime prevention.

Please contact me if you are interested in any facet of this exciting venture. The more the merrier.
