The CCPO Business Plan- POA is detailed below:
| The Plan (Overview) |
The primary purpose of this drive is to enable the community through the elected CCPO committee of Amanzimtoti to hire the services of a private security company. This will be achieved by way of a voluntary community trust funded by those financially able members of our community on a 6 month roll over contractual basis. This process has already begun with Combat Group patrolling our main CBD and soon to start spreading to the smaller CBD’s and residential areas. The Security Company will serve to fill the SAPS void that is apparent on our streets and thus would serve as a security measure in addition to that of your existing alarm response companies, and will work with and support the existing SAPS infrastructure.
| The Plan (Strategic) |
The Amanzimtoti area has been provisionally broken up into 6/7 regions as follows (TBA):
| 1 | Prospecton/Umbogintwini border both sides of N2 to Moss Kolnick off ramp |
| 2 | Moss Konick off ramp south (seaside) of N2 only including Toti beach areas and Toti CBD up to the Adams rd bridge |
| 3 | Adams rd bridge including Toti berea back as far as Old Main rd and to River gardens old site |
| 4 | River gardens old site including Entombeni, Ndongeni including up to Seadoone rd and Doonside down Rockview and down to the Toti river bridge on the border of the CBD |
| 5 | Warner beach |
| 6 | Illovo and Winkelspruit |
It is important to note that although we will need to zone areas, the guard deployment will be flexible with regards to number of guards in any one zone and that hot spots and trouble areas will receive additional attention when and where necessary. The hours of patrol and number of guards per shift will also be flexible and will be rotated to effectively combat the relevant crime pattern.
In addition to the security objectives, we propose to put pressure on those companies that put the car guards in our parking areas. These guards need to be able bodied and serve as car guards on the look out for suspicious looking characters as opposed their current function as mere parking attendants. These car guard deployment companies are making good money out of our community and we feel that it is about time that we got our moneys worth.
| Financial needs/objectives |
| Cost exercise: | 100 Guards @ a cost of R 6,000 per guard per month | R 600,000 |
| Total Security Company cost to the community per month | R 600,000 |
It is important to note that the cost above includes all other operating expenses including weapons, uniforms, communications equipment vehicles (cars and bikes) etc.
In addition to the cost detailed above, the section 21 company (CCPO) would need to employ a General Manager who would serve to monitor the efforts of the appointed security company and ensure that the performance related contract is not breached. The CCPO would also need an office from which a community liaise officer/admin person could operate. This officer would deal with public queries, Community Trust finances and work directly with committee and trustee members. This service we estimate jointly at around R 20,000 per month.
| Total Security Company Cost | R 600,000.00 pm |
| General manager | R 10,000.00 pm |
| Administration person/office rental etc | R 10,000.00 pm |
| Total Costs | R 620,000.00 pm |
Given the costs detailed above we would be looking for approximately 6500 (six thousand five hundred) Amanzimtoti households to commit to R100 per month for a period of 6 months at a time payable to the CCPO Trust by way of monthly debit order. We currently have in excess of 400 signed. In addition to this we are looking for businesses that are both supported by and employ the community of Amanzimtoti. After all, these businesses would not survive without our local residents. Another motivation for businesses to get involved is that a lot of them rely on holiday maker revenue that will surely diminish if Amanzimtoti is deemed to be an unsafe place to visit.
| In Conclusion |
| | The foundation has been laid and the ball has started to roll |
| | The section 21 company has been formed which has the backing of the community |
| | An auditor has been assigned |
| | Debit orders have already been signed |
| | A marketing team is currently promoting the initiative |
| | A marketing strategy has been put in place |
| | A security company has been deployed (while funds last) |
CCPO are hereby requesting financial assistance from all organisations, companies and persons who are in a position to assist in our quest to ensure the safety of all who live in and visit our town. We would like for the ball that has already started to roll to roll faster for the sake of Amanzimtoti and its' future.
